One Year Since October 7: A Call to Action
As we near the anniversary of October 7, this post reflects on the devastating toll of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and the broader regional crisis. It outlines urgent demands for ceasefire, justice, and U.S. accountability—and calls on supporters to take action through protest, policy change, and solidarity.

We are days away from marking the anniversary of the October 7th Hamas attack and the year-long American-Israeli barbaric mass murder campaign against Gaza.
The true death toll in Gaza is estimated to be upwards of 200,000 and climbing. Israel's malevolence has also targeted the West Bank, and most recently Lebanon. Israeli deaths after October 7th are not known, but estimated to be in the several hundreds. The Middle East is on the brink of full-scale war, and tensions are at the boiling point.
There will be massive rallies, vigils, and actions all across the country and around the world. We strongly urge everyone to attend, as you are able.
In addition to the BIG RALLY on Saturday, Oct. 5th in downtown Raleigh (see flyer below), Duke SJP will be holding a vigil at the Chapel Quad on Duke's Campus on Monday, October 7th at 6 pm.
We demand:
a permanent ceasefire in the entire region,
massive life-saving humanitarian aid flowing into Gaza,
an Israeli arms embargo,
a new U.S. policy that upholds American laws re military aid/human rights
compliance with international humanitarian law,
accountability for war crimes
dropping all charges against student protesters
widespread BDS activism + reinvesting in our broken society
an end to the occupation
a dismantling of the apartheid, genocidal state of Israel
United in resistance toward a free Palestine!
